JAMES TAYLOR: You've seen fire You've seen rain. But have you seen sweet baby James? Mosey over to Memorial Auditorium as the Carrboro-bred crooner answers the highway's call and comes home to feel the moonshine. When: March 26, 8 p.m. $66-$86. More info

MUSEUM AFTER-HOURS: Admit it. Ever since you saw Rick Moranis shrink those kids, you kinda wanted to dabble in science. Or feed a gigantic ant a cookie. Practical. Now's your chance to play like a mad scientist for a few hours while you grub on liquid nitrogen ice cream, Only Burger and throw back a few Carolina brews. Maybe the beer goggles will help you figure out that whole ant-cookie thing. When: March 24, 7-9 p.m. $3 museum members, $8 non-members. Food and drinks available for purchase. More info

BEER DINNER AT SPANKY'S: Beer and beef. It's what's for dinner. If you missed your chance to play like a Mediterranean bandit at LoneRider's froth-feast at Artisan, go rogue and wrangle a sudsy spot at Spanky's for a bevy of American brews n' chews and bang some back like Billy the Kid as LoneRider lassos up Spanky's for a four-course sudsy spread. When: March 23, 6-9 p.m. $40.

GREAT HUMAN RACE: Sheen's "Violent Torpedo of Truth" has gone mobile and is coming to a town and stage near you. Oh, the moral collapse. If your faith in humanity needs restoring slap on your sneakers and stride the Bull City-scape for the 16th-annual community fundraising event. When: March 26, 8:30 a.m. run, immediately followed by walk. More info

PRINCE - WELCOME 2 AMERICA: Ol' baby James isn't the only crooner with Carolina on his mind. Party like it's 1999 when the sultan of songs, shimmer and unpronounceable symbols brings his funk-fest exclusively to the Carolinas. Maybe he'll wear a raspberry beret. You know, the kind you get from a second-hand store. And you'll think you love him. Guest spots vary each night between: Maceo Parker, Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, Cassandra Wilson, Sinbad, Lalah Hathaway, Sheila E. and Graham Central Station. When: March 23, 7:30p. $119-$199. More info
