TEQUILA HUNTERS: So, most of us have lived the fuzzy shirtone tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor. Isaac Hunters plans to challenge your liver with a five-tequila tasting (paired with tasty tapas) for 12 bucks. Consider it pre-gaming for Cinco de Mayo. You can do it. When: May 4: 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. More info
CINCO DE MAYO: Leave it to a bunch of Americans to exploit any possible reason to get drunk. An 1862 Mexican army victory over French forces sounds like the perfect reason to kick back with some Coronas and margaritas in the States, even though it's hardly celebrated in Mexico at all. When: May 5, all day long. Check out triangle.com for local Cinco de Mayo events.
MOTHERS DAY: The fact that you didnt know how to wash your clothes until college wasnt so much a coincidence. And your bed didnt make itself all those years, either. She def sacrificed a bunch of sleep just so you wouldnt go hungry. And she probably resisted the urge on a number of occasions to kill you. Surely you can spend a day spoiling the woman you owe your life to. It could be worse, you could be a langur monkey in India, in which case your mom might have bitten you to death. A little brunch and roses doesnt sound so taxing after all. When: May 8, all day long. Check triangle.com for ways to pamper her.
2011 STRAWBERRY FEST: Since you cant live in strawberry fields forever, you might as well bang out at the berry fest and spend a Saturday savoring some scrumptious sustainable strawberries with live music. So, crop up some fruity fun to preserve a park, starting with a funky parade down Foster Street to kick off the eventproceeds go to the transformation of Old North Durham Park. When: May 7, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Free admission, $1-$5 for activities. More info
FARMERS MARKET: Spring is in the air. And in your mouth. With a move to City Plaza this year, the market brings farm-to-city, so you can take farm-to-table. So, get on it. Everyone needs some fresh in their life. And a lil local. Wednesdays, now through Oct. 26. When: Wednesdays 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. More info
